Produce a “How to make a short film” tutorial video
The introductory project for this unit will enable you to build on your pre-existing skills, as well as learn and perfect techniques which should help you make better production work for this unit (and others!)
Your tutorial video should follow this structure:
a) "The Basics"
Explain and demonstrate the following shots and techniques:
Different shot distances
Camera angles
Camera movements
How to set-up and use a DSLR camera
How to use other equipment (such as a dolly, a shoulder mount, a tripod)
Framing (such as two-shots, single character shots)
Tripod filming vs handheld filming
b) "Pure Tekkers" These are advanced techniques - try as many as you can!
Explain and demonstrate the following shots and techniques:
Pulling focus
Rule of thirds
Silhouettes
Lighting: artificial vs natural
Three-point lighting
Bokeh
Dolly zoom / contra-zoom
Other pure tekkers (such as POV, over-the-shoulder shots, canted angles)
